Jamil Samaan

Jamil Samaan is a 4th year medical student at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He is pursuing a residency in internal medicine with the ultimate goal of specializing in Gastroenterology and sub specializing in Advanced Endoscopy. As a Dean's Research Scholar, he served as the director of student research in the surgery department at Keck Medical Center during his research year in 2017. Jamil also founded the Syrian American Association of Science and Health which aims to promote the advancement of Syrian American scholars in the STEM fields and improve healthcare outcomes for Syrian Americans through mentorship, community service and population based research. He hopes to publish the first ever scientific study aiming to explore the health status of Syrian Americans in the United States in Spring 2019. His other passions include providing healthcare for underserved populations, teaching and music.
